Robert Beson and Gabriele Ulacco will discuss their recent SCAF commission, Trifolium, with architect, artist and academic David Burns. Fugitive Structures 2014 is the second iteration of SCAF’s annual architectural initiative, presented in partnership with BVN Donovan Hill. AR-MA: Trifolium (SCAF Project 20) is the second pavilion to feature in the Foundation’s Zen Garden.

Trifolium will remain on display at SCAF until Saturday, 13 December 2014.

Speakers:

David Burns
David Burns 
is an American architect, curator, and artist based in Sydney. Educated at Columbia University and the University of Tennessee, he has worked for Asymptote Architecture, the Guggenheim Museum, and Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently Director of Photography and Situated Media at the University of Technology, Sydney. In 2010, Burns co-founded the curatorial collective N and has undertaken projects in North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia.

robert beson
Robert Beson,
Co Director, AR-MA, has a Bachelor of Arts-Classics from Colorado College, Bachelor of Design-Architecture from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Technology, Sydney. Robert has taught architectural design as well as advanced modelling at the University of Technology, Sydney, the University of Sydney, and the University of Newcastle. In 2010, Robert was awarded the Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship for research on digital fabrication and production of complex structures. Robert is also a regular contributor to Architecture Australia magazine.

Gabriele Ulacco
Gabriele Ulacco, Co Director, AR-MA, has a Bachelor of Design Architecture, and a Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts from the University of Sydney. As technical director at AR-MA, Gabriele has collaborated with a range of leading artists and architects including Anish Kapoor, Richard Goodwin, BVN, Grimshaw, FJMT, CHROFI, and Foster + Partners. Gabriele is a recognised expert in the field of digital fabrication and is the current Robotics and Digital Fabrication Coordinator at the Department of Architecture and Planning at the University of Sydney.
