Join us as Dr Wiyu Wahono, noted Indonesian-born, German-educated art collector shares insights into the contemporary Indonesian art scene. Described as a cultural engineer by Elaine Ng,  Art Asia Pacific, Wahono was one of the earliest and most significant collectors of cutting edge Indonesian art. His wide ranging collection includes SCAF’s current exhibiting artist, Jompet Kuswidananto.

Wiyu portrait

Dr. Wiyu Wahono was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dr Wahono is a trained engineer with a PhD in Plastic technology from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. After lecturing at his alma mater and undertaking industrial consulting in Germany, Dr Wahono returned to Indonesia to establish his own company. He is a member of the Art Stage Jakarta Board of Young Collectors, member of Singapore Art Fair Honorary Board of Patrons and member of the jury for the Bandung Contemporary Art Awards. He has spoken and written extensively about contemporary art.

His collection strategies are founded on serious and ongoing research into contemporary art from the Asia Pacific region with special focus on Indonesia.
