Yoga @ the Gallery

I have the impression that many of us are afraid of silence. We’re always taking in something text, music, radio, television, or thoughts – to occupy space. If quiet and space are so important for our happiness, why don’t we make more room for them in our lives?
-Thich Nhat Hahn (Vietnamese Buddhist monk & peace activist)

Anna Phillips‘s love of yoga began in New Zealand while studying for a Bachelor of Visual Arts and taking care of her two young children. Relocating to Australia provided the impetus to take her yoga studies further. She now infuses the creativity of her artmaking into her yoga teaching, interweaving movement and stillness practices.

As a yoga therapist and teacher Anna nurtures and guides students, taking into account their physical, psychological and emotional needs so as to create holistic and personalised sessions.

Anna also volunteers as a yoga instructor at two facilities for individuals living with disabilities (A Sound Life Charity) and is currently studying Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australasia. Anna is currently based at Dharma Shala Yoga School in North Bondi where she has been teaching for the past 14 years.
