Dr Gene Sherman AM is Chairman and Executive Director of Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF). She has a specialised knowledge of art and French literature and prior to founding the gallery she spent seventeen years teaching and lecturing at secondary and tertiary levels. She is currently on the Board of the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and the Art & Australia Advisory Board. Gene was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government (2003) for her contribution to culture. She received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from The University of Sydney (2008), and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010.

Nicholas Curtis is the Executive Chairman of Lynas Corporation, a mining company specialising in rare earths. With a lifelong fascination in China, his background is in resources, banking and financing based on more than 25 years as a professional in the futures, commodities and stockbroking industries. He is also Chairman of various boards including Forge Resources Limited and was founder and Chairman of Sino Gold Limited, which develops gold mines in China.

Richard Johnson is an architect and a Director of Johnson Pilton Walker (JPW), with a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He works both nationally and internationally, with his work varying from pavilions at world expos, to detailed museum and museum/gallery exhibition design, embassies, schools, office buildings, hotels and a range of master planning and urban design, landscape design and architectural projects in Australia and China.

Chip Rolley
Chip Rolley is the Artistic Director of Sydney Writers’ Festival and an editor, literary project manager and freelance writer who has worked in Australia, the US and China. Conversant with current literary, social, cultural and political issues and debates, he also has a strong background of activism for freedom of expression. Chip has covered a very wide range of subjects in his writing, with a particular focus on Chinese literature, politics and culture.
